Shanghai Venture Capital Co. Ltd.(SHVC for short) was established in 9th, August, 1999. Company，specialized in professional venture capital endeavors， is responsible for the management of a RMB 600 million fund sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Our mission is to boost the venture capital industry of the city, speed the industrialization of hi-tech achievements, accelerate the development of hi-tech industry, and upgrade the traditional industries.

SHVC carried out market oriented operations in venture capital management, considering the international conventions and local characteristics. Taking the “fund of funds” pattern, we have introduced all kinds of domestic and overseas social capital to set up 17 funds. To date, the total investment reaches RMB 3 billion in more than 160 portfolio companies, having built up the diversified investment structure. By implementing experts financing system and supporting the investment manager (corporation) and funds trustee, company has gathered a number of professional managers; it also help the innovative entrepreneurs to initiate various forms of high-tech enterprises, and to progressively realize the professional operation. Company has given birth to new industries and key enterprises.  

In 2004, according to the strategic plan of the Shanghai municipal government, we SHVC, with the strong finance expertise and successful 5 years experiences in fund management, led by Shanghai Municipal “promotion office” and “coordination office” under the “Rejuvenating City through Science and Education” project’s headquarter, took the responsibilities of managing some projects aiming at great breakthrough in key industries, and played the role of the investor on behalf of the government. 

With the support of Shanghai Municipal government, benefited from the “first try first go” policy, SHVC had been actively studying and practicing, striving to find out an innovative road to develop venture capital in China, which is close to the international tradition and considering local characteristics as well. We are proud of bringing some positive effects to fully implementing the “rejuvenated city through science and education" strategy, core strategy of Shanghai government, and promoting the development of hi-tech industries.
